Justice Center stairwell, Seattle, WA. Bronze, 22’ x 10’ x 4” The artwork for the court stairwell is comprised of 24 cast bronze sculptures mounted in a grid pattern. Each component is a metaphor, symbol or rebus, a puzzle within a larger puzzle that challenges the viewer to decipher the meanings of the individual pieces and discover the relations among the suite of pieces. The stairwell piece, with its purposefully ambiguous and sometimes playful forms, offers many and varied points of departure for thoughts about the nature of justice.
